Everyone at AFC Fylde Community Foundation would like to take the time to acknowledge one of our dedicated volunteers.
Lucas, is an incredibly popular face around that offers up his help, free of charge, for every fixture at Mill Farm.
Our Fans of the Future programme runs every home matchday that takes place on a Saturday. The package starts at 12:30, hours ahead of kick off. Yet, Lucas is here every matchday doing whatever is needed of him to help the process run smoothly.
Lucas helps co-ordinate the stadium tour, making sure no child gets left behind or gets lost, and they are all able to experience it to its full potential.
After the tour, he helps our coaches set up the training sessions we provide as part of the Fans of the Future experience. Weather permitting, Lucas will then also help man our inflatable goal we host at the Community Corner.
Natasha Green, our Employability and Skills Co-ordinator, and also his Mum, is delighted with all of his hard work throughout the season, she said: "First and foremost, Lucas is an AFC Fylde fan, his favourite part of the week is when being able to attend an AFC Fylde game in all of his Coasters gear."
"Lucas, lives and breathes football, so anything he can do to be more involved he will do. If he's not playing it, he's watching it. If he's not watching it, he's giving up his free time to help children younger than himself enjoy the sport even more.

"Even if I'm not working the matchday, Lucas will still ask to come down and help. Which, then leads to me volunteering in my own time as well - all it takes is one person to have the desire to help and it infects others.
"On multiple occasions, children participating in the programme have been cold whilst sitting in the stands and Lucas doesn't hesitate to give up his coat or scarf to make sure they are looked after. He might ask for my coat afterwards, once he gets a bit cold, but that's not the point!
"One game, he even gave a child, not involved in the programme, his own AFC Fylde shirt so they didn't feel left out. When you realise just how caring someone can be at such a young age, it makes you feel proud - as much as I love my job at the Foundation, seeing my son like this makes me remember that being a Mum is the best job anyone can have."
Lucas is proof that circumstances such as age or experience do not matter when it comes to offering a helping hand. We are always grateful to anyone who wishes to volunteer to help our charity become more accessible for the community.
If you are interested in helping the Foundation have a positive impact on the Fylde Borough, whether it be on matchdays or at any of the sessions, please do not hesitate to email: community@afcfylde.co.uk.
