Community Development
Mick Whittle | Assistant Foundation Director
As part of our commitment to the Fylde Borough, The Foundation works to increase the amount of people from underrepresented groups who take part in regular sports and physical activity.
Through the support of our funders, the Foundation is able to offer youth provision to children aged 6 - 16 years old, as well as specialist provision for children living with a disability. As well as working with young people, the Foundation also has a significant impact with people over the aged of 55s. Our Loneliness Prevention Programme is designed to reduce social isolation amongst people aged 65 and over through one to one support and our Kirkham Companions session is aimed at people who are 55 and over, which is based in the community and encouraged people to come along and join in activities with like-minded people.
The Foundation also works in partnership with BAE and the Armed Forces Covenant to deliver weekly activities for Veterans and Armed Forces service personnel and their families each week. More recently the Foundation has been delivering activities for refugee and asylum seekers who live in the local area, helping them to settle and be a part of the local community, through weekly football and mentoring support.
