AFC Fylde Community Foundation's 'The Silent Fundraiser 2026'

Updated: Dec 4, 2025

AFC Fylde Community Foundation is proud to present 'The Silent Fundraiser 2026'. But what is it?

On Sunday, 22nd February, 20 external businessmen and women will be entering Kirkham Community Centre - the home of our Kirkham Companions session - with the aim of raising £40,000 between them, in complete silence.

Why silence? We wanted to highlight the difficulties older adults have to go through on a daily basis.

There are very few things guaranteed in life, but unfortunately, ageing is one of them. As you grow older those around you may pass on or your younger family may move on with their own lives - so, who is there for you?

Who is there to pop round for a brew, to share news with after a good day, to go out to dinner with or just go for a walk?

A problem that your Mum or Dad, Grandma or Grandad, Uncle or Aunty, your old school teacher or former colleague at work, may be facing right now.

Some older adults can go days without a social interaction, the only time they might leave the house is to do a food shop - which was once easy, could now seem like a daunting task.

AFC Fylde Community Foundation is a trusted and respected local charity. We rely on external stakeholders to fund our projects. However, in this instance we would like to ensure that our Loneliness Prevention Project can become self-sufficient - but we need your help to make that happen.

This means you can donate to a great cause whilst also getting something you want or maybe a present for a loved one - just in time for Christmas!

Our Chief Executive Officer, Chris Brannigan, said: "We are delighted to finally announce 'The Silent Fundraiser'. It has been several months of hard work and determination to get this in a position where it is ready to go.

"The hardest part has been having to keep silent about it.

"Our Loneliness Prevention Project is something we are extremely proud of - having recently received a nomination for 'Community Initiative of the Season' at the North West Football Awards; we would love nothing more than to continue this project.

"Each individual stakeholder will be challenged with having to raise funds through a variety of creative and interesting ideas as they will be sat in Kirkham Community Centre not able to even ring someone and ask them to donate."

As mentioned above, our Crowdfunder is now available for people to shop in.

This will remain an option for the next 12 weeks where we will have discounted products and services for sale that have been kindly gifted to us for you to purchase - in doing so, your funds will go directly into The Silent Fundraiser.
