AFC Fylde Community Foundation's new Community Captain

A massive congratulations to Mohamed Hashim on becoming our new Community Captain!

In partnership with the Premier League Charitable Fund and National League Trust, all Community Club organisations have to nominate someone who has contributed greatly to the local community.

Our first Community Captain, Darren Thornhill, presented Mohamed Dele, as he is known, with the award due to his outstanding work for AFC Fylde Community Foundation's Football Welcomes project.

Dele has been an ever present figure within the project and has helped it flourish into one of the Foundation's most successful schemes.

The new Community Captain has taken on the responsibility of recruiting new participants and ensuring they have travel to and from the sessions, held every Tuesday night at Fylde Sports and Education Centre.

Scott Harries, our Community Development Co-ordinator, oversees the Football Welcomes project. He said: "I couldn't be happier that Dele has received this award."

Scott also stated: "He deserves every bit of recognition he gets because the Football Welcomes project would not be in the position it is now, if it wasn't for him.

"He is an amazing guy and it has been an absolute pleasure getting to know him. I look forward to every session with him and all the other lads that attend.

"I hope Dele takes great pride in this achievement and I can't wait to see how the session progresses in the future."

The Foundation would also like to say a huge thank you to Darren Thornhill, who will continue to contribute to the success of the Foundation through his support.
