My Special Day Mascot Opportunity
Do you know of a deserving young person who has been through a tough time recently?
Is this young person football mad, and would love the opportunity to take part in a match day experience so much that it would make their year? If the answer is yes, then the ‘My Special Day Mascot’ programme will be right down your street.
The Foundation have allocated four match day mascot experience packages which will be gifted to children who may not have the opportunity to see a live football match for reasons outside of their control.
If you would like to nominate a young boy/girl to take part in this programme please send a short outline detailing the reasons why this young person should be selected to take part in this initiative to email@example.com at any point during the football season.
‘My Special Day’ Acknowledged by Football Conference Trust
The Football Conference Trust has acknowledged the great work The AFC Fylde Community Foundation has contributed to The Fylde Coast.
The AFC Fylde Community Foundation recently joined forces with The Stockport Community Foundation to hold a ‘My Special Day’ programme for 20 selected children. The AFC Fylde Community Foundation ran a wide range of activities prior to kick off and at half-time for the children who participated such as penalty shoot-outs and crossbar challenges. The children also received full replica kits donated by The Community Foundation. In addition to this, The Community Foundation donated 100 tickets to families, both to the Stockport and Fylde communities, who would otherwise not have been able to afford to watch the game.
The Director for AFC Fylde’s Community Development, Tom Hutton stressed the importance of local communities getting involved with the Community Foundation’s activities and maintaining an active lifestyle. “It’s great to see the younger generation of our community embracing the events we are organising. It is brilliant fun for the children and it’s a pleasure to coach them. The idea for the My Special Day programme came from partnership working with various local organisations, who had many deserving children who for varying reasons couldn’t attend live football matches. As part of The Foundation obligation to its community, we decided to nominate four fixtures each season, where we could deliver the ‘My Special Day’ programme.”
Stockport County Community Foundation Development officer Dave Wardle was also full of praise for the AFC Fylde Community Foundation. Dave said, “Everyone connected from Stockport County’s Community Foundation had such a great experience from the moment we arrived at the ground to the moment we left. The AFC Fylde Foundation was so passionate and enthusiastic about every single detail and made the day very special. I really have nothing but praise for the whole day and would recommend any other Community Foundation/Trust to be part of The AFC Fylde Community Foundation programme as it was everything a community activity should be about and we were very grateful to be part of it.”
Max’s Special Day
Young Coasters fan Max Hetherington enjoyed a special day out at Kellamergh Park as part of the partnership between the club and BAE Systems.
Max was the lucky winner of a free matchday mascot experience last month in a competition run by the AFC Fylde Community Foundation for BAE Systems.
Phil Ashton, who won the competition, and Max’s dad Mark were full of praise for the club.
Mark said: “Max loved the experience and is still talking about to all his friends and family. Everyone made Max feel at home for the whole day, so much so he now feels like he’s part of set up.
“Mani from the Community Foundation was excellent with Max and both myself and Phil. We have been to a home game since and will be attending again this season as it’s a really enjoyable family day out.”
Phil said: “Max had a fantastic day and was looked after (and ran ragged) by the extremely friendly and professional staff and Syd the Seagull, whilst Mark and I relaxed by the bar looked after by the lovely Carol. Many thanks for the gift of the replica kit which Max wore all day and night and also the following day – after it had been washed!”
