Show Racism the Red Card

AFC Fylde Community Foundation has partnered with Show Racism the Red Card to ensure communities understand the negative impact racism has on football. Community Development Manager Matthew Agnew, believes it’s crucial that the young generation of football understand the importance of respect to all cultures. He said, “Show Racism the Red Card have proven their ability to use football as a means to tackle racism and intolerance in local communities, we can learn so much about the different cultures in our local community’s from the people themselves . I firmly believe in educating young people to respect all people regardless of race, and take time to understand the damage and huge emotional toll racism has on the victims.”

Matthew admitted it is a “huge honour” to be involved with the Show Racism the Red Card initiative. Matthew said, “We are a hugely diverse town full of many different culture’s and races and it is vital that we can educate our local children about the issue of racism and how we can positively promote cohesion through the many activity’s we do all across the Fylde . It’s a huge honour and a privilege to be involved in such a worthwhile program and this is going to make a massive difference to educate children across the Fylde in regards to showing racism the red card.”
